When a blue dragon is killed and one of their precious eggs stolen, Kyndra, warrior priestess of the Dragon Order, is called upon to determine who committed such a heinous crime. Kyndra is next in line to be the high priestess of the Dragon Order and has pledged her life in service to the blue dragons. As a priestess she must remain chaste, which hasn't been a problem, until she is partnered with the devastatingly handsome Aimery, commander of the Fae army.
Aimery is an accomplished warrior who is feared and revered by men, and desired by women. The mission to retrieve the dragon's egg is vital to the future of the Fae, but it is also a personal one, fueled by anger and betrayal. Together with Kyndra, they must travel to the realm of Thav, a dangerous realm filled with dark magic. Literally powerless (for only dark magic is allowed to exist on Thav) Kyndra and Aimery have only their skills as warriors to survive. It is a dangerous quest that could end their lives. To complicate matters further, is the intense desire that each harbors for the other.
Dragonfyre had me enraptured from the opening sentences. I eagerly followed Aimery and Kyndra as they battled creatures, men and the allure of dark magic. They valiantly tried to resist their attraction, but it was futile. They had fallen for each other the first time they met. Donna Grant's ability to create sensual, yet emotionally charged love scenes will leave many readers breathless (and yearning). I absolutely believed in Aimery and Kyndra's connection and rooted for them throughout the story. The pace was quick and the action non-stop, which made Dragonfyre an effortless read. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal/dark fantasy or anyone looking for something other than the usual historical.
